Digital Command Control

AC/DC power was the standard for model trains for many years. It had several limitations, including not being able to run more than one train on a track without using control blocks.
With the advent of DCC, operators can run a locomotive either independently or couple several together and run as a unit. DCC uses a decoder, which is a mini computer chip, and a programmable circuit board. This allows for more realistic operation and locomotives respond more smoothly and can also run at slower speeds.
Today's model railroad enthusiasts enjoy many bebefits early modelers did not have. Never before have such elaborate layouts, accessories, and  vast choices of models been available. Model trains are more realistic than ever, and the future looks brighter today than ever.
